How to get involved
Watch the boards
The Cairngorm National Park Board advertises and publishes papers for a range of meetings http://cairngorms.co.uk/authority/meetings/ The LLTNP is far less open and only holds three main types of meeting involving Board Members in public: the Main Board, Planning Committee and Audit Committee. http://www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/looking-after/board-meetings/menu-id-409.html
While the dates of meetings are advertised in advance, agendas and papers appear at most only 7 days beforehand which makes it very difficult for the public to attend. The press stopped going long ago. The result is there is no external scrutiny.
If just a few people attended and reported what they heard on social media or questioned Board Members afterwards it would make a difference. And consider a write up for parkswatchscotland
If you live in the Park
Keep an eye on your local elected representative and councillors who sit on the Boards; let them know your views
Let politicians know
Our politicians, with the exception of a few local representatives, are remarkably ignorant of our National Parks and get most of their information from the mainstream media. Let them know what is and isn't not working and ask them to commit to change.
Report issues
Whether its wildlife crime or access issues report these to the Park Authorities and then follow up any concerns. Its amazing how many unfriendly access signs still survive in our Parks ten years after their creation.
Camping bye-laws
Post photos of happy campers, young or old, in wild places or by the road to counter the spin of the Park .
Ask your candidates at the forthcoming Scottish parliament elections to commit to reversing the decision to approve new camping byelaws
